Purpose

The goal of this comprehensive training program is to help professionals broaden their knowledge and clinical skills in Play Therapy. For many years Play Therapy was synonymous with child therapy and it remains the most widely practiced for of child treatment across the world.

 

Eligibility

The Play Therapy Institute Program is open to professionals in the mental health fields; including psychologists, counselors, social workers, physicians, child life specialists, nurses, occupational and recreational therapists, as well as full time graduate students. Individual courses may be taken on a non-matriculated basis.

 

The Program

The Play Therapy Training Program contains two levels of training. Level One consists of 102 hours of instruction in the basic principles and practices of Play Therapy, including major schools, developmental aspects, play materials and techniques, and play assessment. Level Two is composed of an additional 102 hours of instruction which explore Play Therapy concepts in greater depth and present the latest innovations and developments in the field.

  • Puppet Play Therapy
  • Family Play Therapy
  • Time Limited Play Therapy
  • Play Therapy for Abused Children
  • Prescriptive Play Therapy

 

N.B. The Program is committed to flexibility and continuous  reassessment of course offerings in light of new knowledge and development in the field of Play Therapy

Tuition

Courses cost $200 each. Morning Bagels and Coffee are provided. Tuition is exclusive of meals, transportation, and lodging.

 

Institute

The play Therapy Training Institute, Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded in 1986 to offer educational programs in the field of Play Therapy. Its mission is to help professionals develop a sub-specialty in Play Therapy.

 

Certificate

Candidates who successfully complete either Level One or Two of the program will receive a Certificate. Admission to the Program does not guarantee the awarding of a certificate. A registration fee of $55 for certificate candidacy in either level of the training program.
