Seminar #130
PLAY THERAPY TO ENHANCE CHILDREN'S SELF-ESTEEM
Instructor: Heidi Kaduson, Ph.D., RPT-S
Sunday November 23, 2008 - 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Credits 6.0
Children begin forming beliefs about themselves early in life. Due to the
pressures of competition, school achievement and the like, children are at high
risk of developing low self-esteem. This results from the child having a
poor self-image caused by a number of factors in their environment. The
relationship of self-esteem to school achievement, crime, violence, and suicide
emphasizes the need to help enhance a child's self-esteem. When children
have a high level of self-esteem, they are more confident, happy and sure of
themselves. This workshop will cover facts about self-esteem, how play
therapy can help enhance it, and also what parents and teachers can do to
protect it. There will be experiential work in this seminar, as well as
video presentations.
