Instructor:
Risė VanFleet, Ph.D., RPT-S
Thursday July 16, 2009 - 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  Credits 6.0

Group play therapy can be very beneficial for young people to achieve both therapeutic and educational goals.  The social interactions and light-hearted atmosphere of group play intervention can assist with the development of social skills, self-awareness, problem-solving skills, self-confidence, team-building, and creativity.  The methods covered in this workshop are most applicable for adolescents and young adults with a wide range of challenges and goals.  Participants will learn how to select, conduct, and debrief group play techniques to maximize learning and personal change, as well as how to incorporate group play therapy into a large educational or therapeutic program, if needed.  Potential classroom activities will be covered as well.  Many of the methods covered are also applicable for families.  Participants should dress comfortably as they will have an opportunity to learn many of the techniques experientially in a relaxed and non-threatening climate.
