THE USE OF MINIATURES AND SAND TRAYS IN THE PLAY ROOM

Wednesday July 30, 2008 - 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  Credits 6.0

This seminar will explore the practical applications of miniatures and sand play in play therapy.  Through lecture, the use of personal sand trays, and hands-on activities, the participants will become familiar with the use of miniatures and sand play for self-expression and problem solving.  An integrative approach will be used in order to allow therapists to apply the principles within a wide range of theoretical orientation.  Participants are encouraged to bring 3-5 of their favorite miniatures to the seminar.

INSTRUCTOR: Cyndi Jordan, Ed.D, LPC-MHSP, RPT-S, is a licensed professional counselor, a licensed psychological examiner, a board certified educational therapist, and a registered play therapist - supervisor.  She is in private practice in Memphis, Tennessee where she utilizes a diagnostic-prescriptive approach to play therapy.  She also incorporates the use of her dog, Marlie, as a therapy dog in the play room.  Dr. Jordan is a consultant for the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences, as well as numerous area schools.
