| Seminar #295 The purpose of this seminar is to introduce therapeutic play activities developed for use with adults of all ages. Play activities designed for individual psychotherapy, group therapy, and couples therapy will be presented. Specific therapeutic activities that will be described include humor, game play, sandplay, doll play, hypno-play therapy, and dramatic role play. The growing application of play therapy to geriatric populations will also be discussed. Course Objectives List some basic play therapy methods used with adults Understand and utilize the therapeutic powers of play with adults Describe the story telling techniques used in play therapy with adults Use some board games with adult clients Be familiar with sandtray play therapy for adults Explain the use of play therapy with adults in different settings INSTRUCTOR: Heidi Kaduson, Ph.D., RPT-S is a licensed clinical psychologist and registered play therapist-supervisor. She is in private practice in Monroe Twp., New Jersey. She has lectured throughout the world on the assessment and treatment of Attention - Deficit - Hyperactivity Disorder and Play Therapy. She has conducted research studies on the effectiveness of diverse treatment approaches for this childhood disorder. Dr. Kaduson is co-director of the Play Therapy Training Institute and past president/ board member of the Association for Play Therapy. She is author and co-editor of books entitled The Playing Cure, 101 Favorite Play Therapy Techniques, 101 More Favorite Play Therapy Techniques, The Quotable Play Therapist, and Short-Term Play Therapy For Children. Charles E. Schaefer, Ph.D., RPT-S, is founder and co-director of the Play Therapy Training Institute and co-founder of the Association for Play Therapy. Among his 35 books are: Therapeutic Use of Childs Play; Handbooks of Play Therapy, Game Play; Play Diagnosis and Assessment; Therapeutic Powers of Play, Play Therapy Techniques; Play Therapy in Action; and The Quotable Play Therapist.
