Seminar #132 RELEASE PLAY THERAPY FOR ANXIOUS AND WORRIED CHILDREN
Instructors: Heidi Kaduson, Ph.D., RPT-S In a generation where worrying is a common reactive behavior, children become more anxious about many different things. Worrying becomes problematic when it interferes with functioning. This workshop will illustrate and demonstrate how Release Play Therapy can assist the parent and the child to relieve anxiety and “stop the worry”. Release Play Therapy provides the means by which children can release the tension, let go of the worry, and have fun all at the same time. This workshop will be didactic as well as experiential, so come on in to have fun. DVD presentations will be done to illustrate actual clients’ treatment using Release Play Therapy. Learning Objectives: 1. Define Release Play Therapy and its origins INSTRUCTOR: Heidi Kaduson, Ph.D., RPT-S is a licensed clinical psychologist and registered play therapist-supervisor. She is in private practice in Monroe Twp., New Jersey. She has lectured throughout the world on the assessment and treatment of Attention - Deficit - Hyperactivity Disorder and Play Therapy. She has conducted research studies on the effectiveness of diverse treatment approaches for this childhood disorder. Dr. Kaduson is co-director of the Play Therapy Training Institute and past president/board member of the Association for Play Therapy. She is author and co-editor of books entitled The Playing Cure, 101 Favorite Play Therapy Techniques, 101 More Favorite Play Therapy Techniques, The Quotable Play Therapist, and Short-Term Play Therapy For Children.
