Seminar #132 RELEASE PLAY THERAPY FOR ANXIOUS CHILDREN
Instructors: Heidi Kaduson, Ph.D., RPT-S Anxiety is one of the most common problems for children. Children who are shy, socially nervous, developmentally delayed. Or have been through a traumatic event have a need to work through their anxious situations. Whether the anxiety arises from genetic factors or environmental conditions, children need to find a way to face the anxiety and master it. Release Play Therapy is one of the most exciting methods of allowing children of all ages to deal with anxiety. Through the use of this type of play therapy, the child is able to desensitize to the anxiety. This work allows the child to become less anxious and master many difficult situations. INSTRUCTOR: Heidi Kaduson, Ph.D., RPT-S is a licensed clinical psychologist and registered play therapist-supervisor. She is in private practice in Monroe Twp., New Jersey. She has lectured throughout the world on the assessment and treatment of Attention - Deficit - Hyperactivity Disorder and Play Therapy. She has conducted research studies on the effectiveness of diverse treatment approaches for this childhood disorder. Dr. Kaduson is co-director of the Play Therapy Training Institute and past president/board member of the Association for Play Therapy. She is author and co-editor of books entitled The Playing Cure, 101 Favorite Play Therapy Techniques, 101 More Favorite Play Therapy Techniques, The Quotable Play Therapist, and Short-Term Play Therapy For Children.
