Purpose
The goal of this comprehensive training program is to help professionals broaden their knowledge and clinical skills in Play Therapy. For many years Play Therapy was synonymous with child therapy and it remains the most widely practiced form of child treatment across the world.
The Program
The Play Therapy Training Program consists of instruction in the basic principles and practices of Play Therapy, including major schools, developmental aspects, pay materials and techniques, and play assessment. Electives provide further instruction which explores Play Therapy concepts in greater depth and presents the latest innovations and developments in the field.
Faculty
The faculty consists primarily of visiting instructors from universities and clinics across the country. The Training Program is directed by Heidi G. Kaduson, Ph.D. and Elizabeth Couturier M.A..
Eligibility
The Play Therapy Training Institute Program is open to professionals of the mental health fields; including psychologists, counselors, social workers, physicians, child life specialists, nurses, occupational and recreational therapists, as well as full time graduate students. Individual courses may be taken on a non matriculated basis
Certificate
Candidates must take the core courses plus a number of electives of their choosing to complete the 150 required credit hours. There are 8 Core courses (listed below) and an additional 17 elective courses must be completed to qualify for the certificate. After completing the hours a candidate applies for the Certificate. Attendance of the courses does not guarantee the awarding of a certificate. A registration fee of $55 is charged for certificate candidacy in the training program.

Our courses cost between $25 and $35 dollars a credit hour. To complete the program (150 hours of training) you can expect to spend between $3,750 and $5,250.
