The growing field of Play Diagnosis and Assessment provides many formal as well as informal techniques, which facilitate the identified child’s ability to participate in the evaluation process.The goal of this seminar is to present a general overview of the field. The seminar will include a discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of Play Assessment and will survey a variety of Play Techniques and Scales, which can enhance the assessment of children and their families. The purpose of this course is to familiarize the participants with some of the available alternative procedures for gleaning information through Play Behaviors.Although a few methods will be highlighted in some detail, most will be generally reviewed with regard to their purpose and potential usages. This is a Core Course.

Heidi G. Kaduson, Ph.D., RPT-S
Dr. Heidi Gerard Kaduson is a licensed clinical child psychologist in New York and New Jersey. She received her Ph.D. from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She specializes in the evaluation and intervention services for children with a variety of behavioral, emotional and learning problems. She is obtaining her masters in Psychopharmacology for Prescribing Psychologists.
Dr. Kaduson uses play therapy for individual counseling, group psychotherapy, and social skills training. She has lectured throughout the world on Play Therapy, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Pervasive Developmental Disorders, and Learning Disabilities. She has trained and/or supervised thousands of individuals around the world. Dr. Kaduson is Past-President and a past-Member of the Board of Directors of the National Association for Play Therapy, as well as the Director of The Play Therapy Training Institute, Inc.
Dr. Kaduson is editor and author of many books: The Quotable Play Therapist; The Playing Cure; and 101 Favorite Play Therapy Techniques, 101 More Favorite Play Therapy Techniques, 101 Favorite Play Therapy Techniques, Vol. III, Short Term Play Therapy, Game Play Therapy, Short Term Play Therapy, Second Edition, Contemporary Play Therapy, and Foundations of Play Therapy, Second Edition, Short Term Play Therapy, Third Edition as well as Prescriptive Play Therapy.
